Fly Your Drone Safely with Moonrock Insurance and Consortiq
Words By: Drone Major
Moonrock Insurance, a Drone Major Group supplier, is excited to announce a new partnership with Consortiq to promote safer drone flying for all of Moonrock's customers.
The details of Moonrock's news are below:
Drone safety hit the news in dramatic style in December. Christmas travel plans for thousands were disrupted and ruined, following sights of a drone flying in restricted airspace around Gatwick Airport. Following that incident, calls for greater restrictions on the use of drones resulted in the government announcing new powers for the police when it comes to drone use including the use of fixed penalty notices. What impact the new rules will have is unclear with further disruption experienced at Heathrow on 8 January following more drone sightings.
While commercial pilots are already subject to regulations from the CAA and are required to have liability insurance, it seems inevitable that all drone pilots – whether they fly for a living or as a hobby – will come under much greater scrutiny in the coming months.
As a leading drone insurer – currently insuring over 2,500 commercial drone pilots – Moonrock spends a great deal of time looking at ways in which we can help our pilots fly safely. It is one reason why we are the first drone insurer to offer our customers free access to the best drone flight planning and management system currently available.
Consortiq’s CQnet system is a flight planning and management system that enables safer, more scalable flying operations while ensuring compliance with flight regulations. The system includes a flight operations command portal to show real-time drone operations; a drone management and maintenance dashboard; airspace intelligence to check weather and flight restrictions; and a mission planning interface. The software helps drone pilots reduce the likelihood of an accident while its scalability allows a business to oversee its entire drone operation – where pilots are flying and their flight plans – at any given time.
We think it’s a major step forward in drone safety allowing pilots and businesses access to software that controls many of the safety aspects of commercial drone flying, while assisting pilots with their procedure checks, such as flight planning. It will help our pilots meet ever stringent industry rules and ensure they can continue to operate their drone operations safely and within the law.
Every Moonrock customer is eligible for free access to CQnet. If you are an existing customer, please contact us to receive instructions on how to access the software. New customers will be advised on how they can access CQnet with confirmation of their policy.
