AWRA, the Autonomous Wildfire Recognition & Analytics, is Robotto’s drone system that enables firefighters to follow wildfires in real-time thanks to its fully autonomous reconnaissance capabilities. So how does it work? It is simple, the firefighters arrive on site once a wildfire has been detected or to an area with a high chance of there being once. They deploy the drone, and select a region of interest, within a map on the drone’s control station. AWRA will then navigate autonomously to this AWRA and run our detection algorithm looking for smoke, flames or high temperatures. Once the fire is detected it calculates its precise size, location and direction, and sends this information back onto the map in the users hands. Thanks to its onboard processing capabilities, AWRA does not require of internet connectivity, which allows it to operate in remote areas. AWRA can operate at night and in smoky areas, which allows for great coordination with other aerial tankers and extinction methods. With this system, incident commanders will always stay one step ahead when combatting wildfires, allocating their resources more efficiently, for a fraction of the current price and more accurate data.
