INVOLI is a Swiss-based company that aims at safely integrating drones into the air traffic. It develops airspace integration of drones into manned air traffic and enables safe and efficient low-altitude operations. Its main differentiation comes from its ability to provide low-altitude air traffic data unavailable otherwise through its own network of on-the-ground receivers, comprehensively detecting manned air traffic even below 400ft/150m. This hardware-software solution allows an unprecedented air traffic awareness to drone operators.
Thanks to a dedicated infrastructure on the ground, INVOLI system provides the information (position, direction, speed, altitude etc.) of all low-altitude aircraft equipped with ADS-B, FLARM and transponder Mode S or Mode A/C. Currently, the whole country of Switzerland is covered by the system, in partnership with the leading telecommunication company and relying on its communication network. It enables a real-time coverage of all air traffic in the area where drone tests and demos have been successfully conducted. It allows drone operators to anticipate all possible collisions with cooperative aircraft in advance, and thus facilitate the safe integration of drones into the air traffic, thanks to geofencing capabilities as well as automatic collision avoidance mechanisms
INVOLI is part of the Swiss U-Space (the European wide effort for integrating drones into the air space) as air traffic data provider, joining in this venture the Swiss national air traffic management service provider, Skyguide, and the Federal Office of Civil Aviation, FOCA.
